by loimere

From isolated little beach houses to luxurious resorts, there’s a great variety of choices for those looking for accommodation in St. Martin. Those trying to decide on where to stay in St. Martin are first confronted with an important choice: should they settle for the French side of the island with its lovely cottages and refined cuisine or the Dutch side with its colorful houses and unrivaled duty-free shops? It pretty much depends on your tastes, I would say, however the island of St. Martin/St. Marteen is not so big so you won’t have any problems moving around. So no matter what your final choice might be, here’s a list with possible hotels and rentals in both sides of the island:

St. Martin Hotels

Hotels on St. Martin are made to suit every pocket, so don’t be surprised if you find a locally owned inn with just a few bedrooms sitting right beside some luxurious chain hotel. There’s plenty to choose around the island, although most of the hotels will fall into the mid-range category: Caraibes beach Hotel, La Plantation, Turqouise Shell Inn or Orient Bay Hotel. The ‘splurge’ side of St. Martin includes names like Le Domaine de Lonvilles, Coral Beach Club Hotel, Westin Down Beach and Princess Heights Luxury Boutique Condo.

Although hotels and resorts are to be found everywhere around the island, villa rental is probably the most common choice with tourists. As with hotels, rental homes are fall into different price categories, from family owned, one bedroom guesthouses to villa resorts where you can rent your own slice of paradise. Apartment complexes and guesthouses are likely to be found in the Simpson Bay Area, Oyster Pond and Philipsburg. The Villas on Great Bay (St. Marteen) and Green Cay Villas (St. Martin) are both offering luxury packs with private beach access and individual pools.

St. Martin Resorts

Like in most Caribbean Islands that are popular with tourists, St. Martin has become home to some big hotel and resort brands like Le Meridien or Radisson. But there are several, smaller businesses with just as much glam, like Esmeralda Resort, Captain Oliver’s Resort or Almanda Resort. Oyster Bay Beach Resort And Divi Little Bay Beach Resort are probably the largest two resorts on the island, with private beaches, several pools and all the amenities of a luxury hotel – the first one also offers attractive time-share options.
